Are you considering an intensive driving course?

Are you considering an intensive driving course? Traditionally, intensive driving courses would involve 30-45 hours of tuition crammed into a week, culminating in a test on Friday. However, this approach may not be the most effective way to learn. The strain of long, exhaustive days can diminish the learner’s ability to absorb information, impacting the quality of training provided. At 1Drive, we believe in a more balanced and effective approach. Our courses should first be viewed as an intensive learning course rather than an intensive testing course. Our intensive courses emphasise accelerated learning, prioritising your development, at pace, over rushed test readiness and while our aim is to progress you towards passing the test, it’s essential to recognise that each individual learns at their unique pace.

Good to know:

Many learners are unaware of the DVSA’s policy on cancellations for driving tests. To secure a refund, you must cancel with at least 3 clear working days’ notice, which will increase to 10 clear working days in 2023. With traditional intensive courses running Monday to Friday, decisions about test readiness need to be made as early as Tuesday, creating less-than-ideal circumstances for informed decision-making.

Our intensive courses span 10-14 days, ensuring a minimum of 48 hours of instruction, distributed for optimal absorption. Unlike traditional intensive courses that end just before the test, we finish our 48-hour training a week in advance. This allows for informed decisions on test readiness and offers flexibility to meet the required standards.

Here’s the good news:

At 1Drive, we are committed to providing our learners with the best chance of passing their test on the first attempt by instilling the skills required for safe driving at an accelerated pace. Our intensive courses not only feature a balanced steady, structure but also grant you exclusive access to our online training videos before your course starts so that you can get a heads start on your learning. These videos have helped numerous learners accelerate their learning and pass their tests with confidence. One more thing, all of our instructors are in-house. We will never out-source a course to unfamiliar instructors and we will never take payment before we’ve found you an instructor.

Disclaimers:

Here at 1Drive, we’ve reimagined intensive driving courses with a unique twist. Our intensive courses are a minimum of 48 hours, aligning with the DSA’s estimate of the average learner’s needs in the UK. Recognising that previous driving experience varies, we prioritise a thorough learning experience.

While we strive to ensure each learner is test-ready after 48 hours, we emphasise quality over haste. On rare occasions, if the standard isn’t met, we may delay the driving test. If intending to use the instructor’s car for the test, the final decision rests with the instructor. Should further lessons be needed these would be charged at our standard hourly rates found on our website. Please note that further lessons are subject to instructor and learner availability and we may not be able to guarantee evening or weekend slots.

Course booking process:

Arranging your intensive course with the ideal instructor and coordinating their schedule may take a few weeks. We diligently work to find the perfect match for you, ensuring the best learning experience possible. Instructors may have specific requirements for test dates or need to align with their own schedules, requiring careful planning and coordination. In order to confirm and secure your booking for the course, we will request a non-refundable deposit of 50%. The remaining course fee must be paid in full no later than 7 days before the course commences.

Once the course dates have been booked, we may not be able to change the dates. If you need to cancel the course or change the course dates, you may lose some or all of your fees.

Learner requirements:

It is imperative that all learners arrive for their lessons in a physically and legally fit state. Under no circumstances should learners attend lessons under the influence of any substance, be it drugs or alcohol. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the legal requirements to drive. Failure to comply with these essential requirements may lead to the cancellation of lessons, and applicable charges may still apply. Your safety and the quality of your learning experience are our top priorities.

When considering the above, always remember: Driving instructors are evaluated based on the results of their tests. It’s in everyone’s best interest to maintain high-quality teaching, ensuring that you have the best odds of passing and becoming a safe and legal driver.
